ABOUT US

Llantwit Major Horticultural Society has been an established society for over 50 years. The society is organised by the committee which is made up of a maximum of 12 voluntary members who meet monthly. As a society, we host events all the way through the year until our Christmas break, including monthly guest speakers who visit us to discuss a range of topics, coach trips throughout the UK and our annual summer show held each August.

Members enjoy a large range of benefits from access to help and advice, a monthly newsletter packed with information and access to our society store which can be found on the allotments on Llanmaes Rd. Each year we organise the ordering of bedding plants, potatoes and onion sets, take part in community events and help promote local and uk wide initiatives such as the NGS open gardens.

Members of all ages, backgrounds and gardening expertise are warmly welcomed into the society and we encourage all to help out where they can, from stewarding our summer show to manning our society store and joining our friendly bunch of volunteers.

JOIN US

The annual subscription for the society is £10.00 which covers you and your spouse or partner, paid on January 1st of every year. Once we have received your subscription fee you will receive a membership card which will provide you with your unique membership number, giving you access to our Society Store.

We are currently turning toward the digital age and working on an online membership form with online payments. However, whilst the committee work on this behind the scenes we ask all new members to continue to apply via a paper membership form. Application forms can be collected from our store on the allotments on Llanmaes Road or at any of our talks, on trips and at our summer show. Please note, you do not need to register to become a member of the society to attend talks or to go on our trips but you will be asked to pay a pound or two more! 

Please note: the Society does not keep a record of any bank details, to comply with GDPR.

The success of the society is due to our dedicated team of volunteers and when becoming a member, we ask you to register your interest or availability to help in our store, at our summer show or with deliveries.
